    [First performance – Rakugo “Tsuru”]

It was the first time for Master Shota Shunpuutei‘s apprentice, Shoya, to perform at Kodomoyose. The story continued with a good tempo and he captured the hearts of the children with the short story Monkey Drive. He used the excitement which had built up to continue with another story “Tsuru”. This silly and easy to understand story seemed to be perfect for the children and the opening was quite exciting. The audience really got heated up. We had many comments in the questionnaire that said, “I’m glad he had such intensity.”

    [Iromono – Piano and harmonica]

In the questionnaire there were comments about Yuki’s Melodica performance such as “The ambulance was amazing!”and “I was glad that I could see such a pro performance.”.
This time the age of the children was a little low and there were many first time Rakugo viewers. It seemed like they enjoyed the skillfully played sounds. The happy, cool and funny performance style by Yuki was also found to be very funny by the adults too.

[Second performance – Rakugo “Kohome”, “Choutan”]

There were two performances squeezed into the space of 30 minutes. Even though, the small children whining could be heard at the start, as time went by the audience gradually tuned into the Bungiku theatre. In the final 10 minutes, the program “Merits and Demerits, even the children who had been whining were completely focused on the gestures and story by Master Bungiku. He really showed off the power of Rakugo. It was quite a performance.
